GOSPEL THOUGHTS
*Ordinary Season: Twenty Second Week : Thursday*
*Gospel : Lk 5:1-11*
*First Reading : 1 Cor 3:18-23*
*Responsorial Psalm : Ps. 24:1bc-2, 3-4ab, 5-6*
*Old Method but new place, Same Work but Great Reward*
*1) Old Method but New Place*
In today's Gospel we have a beautiful scene of fishing at the see of Galilee
Peter and his company had already concluded their work with out catching any fish
At this moment the entry of Jesus changes the entire situation
Jesus takes them to a new place for a new catch
Peter and His company use the old method of fishing in a new place and they are able to catch a huge fish
*2) Same Work with Great Reward*
Jesus didn't change their work. Jesus changed only the place of fishing
Same work Peter and his company did, but the result was amazing
They were able to get a huge catch of fish with the intervention of Jesus
*3) Old Method And New place in our life*
The Method of 10 commandments and the Love commandment of Jesus stands valid for all times. It can't change
If we consider this is the old but important method, we need a new place to implement this
The new place could be the following
My own life
My own family
My own surroundings
My own society
My own work place
My own ministry place
My own parish
These are the new places which need the old and H
Golden method to know the mission of our life
*4) Same Work but Great Reward*
Peter and company didn't change their work. They went on doing their work
The same work had great reward. They were able to catch a huge amount of fish
This happened through the mediation of Jesus
When Jesus enters the scene the entire situation changes
*5) Change in outlook is needed*
Peter and company changed their outlook towards their profession
They were experts in their feild. Yet they listened to Jesus. That made the difference
Peter was ready to change his perspective. That changed the situation
Peters willingness to go again in spite of all the challenges helps him to realise the greater call for his mission
Change of outlook, change the life of Peter and His companions. That is the power of changing ones outlook
Am I ready to change my outlook?
The Empty Boat
Jesus needs your boat, however imperfect you are, to accomplish His mission.
