*The Search for Jesus the King*
*1) Three Wise Men*
The Magi (Greek: Magoi) were wise men or astrologers from the East, likely Persia (modern-day Iran), who studied the stars and interpreted celestial events.
Their story is found in the Gospel of Matthew 2:1-12.
The term *Magi* refers to a priestly class known for their knowledge of astronomy, astrology, and religious rituals.
They are often called the *Three Wise Men* or *Three Kings,* although the Bible does not specify their number or kingship
*2) The Purpose of Coming*
The Magi followed a miraculous star, known as the Star of Bethlehem, which led them to Jesus in Bethlehem.
They came seeking the *King of the Jews* to pay homage to Him.
Their journey symbolizes the recognition of Jesus' kingship beyond Israel, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies that the Messiah would be a light to the Gentiles.
*3) Three Gifts of Wise men*
Their gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh each hold symbolic meanings:
*Gold*: Symbol of kingship and Jesus' royal status.
*Frankincense*: Represents Jesus' priestly role and divinity, used in worship.
*Myrrh*: A burial ointment, prefiguring Jesus' suffering and death.
*4) Jesus is for All Nations*
The Magi were Gentiles, indicating that Jesus' mission was not limited to the Jews but extended to all nations.
Their journey reflects the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy:
*Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn* (Isaiah 60:3).
*5) Seeking Jesus Requires Faith and Perseverance*
The Magi undertook a long, uncertain journey guided by faith.
Their quest shows that finding Christ requires effort, sacrifice, and faith.
*6) God’s Guidance Comes to Those Who Seek*
The star represents divine guidance. It is God who shows the way to the final destiny
The Magi followed the star with faith, reminding us that God leads those who earnestly seek Him.
*7) True Worship Involves Offering the Best to Christ*
The gifts of the Magi remind us to offer the best of ourselves, our time, talents, and treasures, in worship.
Those who offer best things to God, best things they receive from God
Am I ready to follow the Magi in my life??
