Am I following the patchwork spirituality?

 GOSPEL THOUGHTS

22nd Week – Friday

Gospel – Luke 5: 33-39

Am I following the patchwork spirituality?

No one tears a piece from a new cloak to patch an old one

1) The concept of patchwork

We are familiar with the concept of patchwork.

This concept is used in our lives in many areas.

In fact when something has to be repaired the first thing comes into our mind is patchwork

Does this patchwork really work in our life?

2) Patchwork gives only a short term solutions

Patchwork can't give long term solutions. It is meant only for short term solution

For example when there is a repair work of the road we see most of the time the patchwork. Such a patchwork remains only for a short time. Then it becomes worse

So the gain of patchwork is only a short term. Can't expect a long term gain

3) End result of Patchwork is total destruction

It is very clear that with the short term gain, the end result is total loss.

First of all the good things which are used for the patchwork are totally lost. They can't be used once again. So there is a total loss of good things

Secondly the good things are not used properly. Since they are used only for short term their utility becomes less and they become outdated even before the time. So once again this is a total loss

Thirdly, even the old things become worse, since it is not maintained well. In the bargain both, new and old things are totally lost and the situation becomes worse

Fourthly, there is a unnecessary burden of doing the work again and again. Instead of doing once, patchwork has to be done again and again. So repetition of the work becomes a burden in the patchwork spirituality.

When the burden becomes more, there is unnecessary energy is spent. So the person who does the work loses his/her interest and the quality of the work suffers

4) Patchwork gives a deceptive look

Patchwork gives a beautiful look. It appears that everything is okie and fine

But the look is very deceptive. It appears good outwardly but the quality of the work will be very low.

So it is only to cover up the bad things and to show a good and grand look. It is equal to hypocrisy

5) Patchwork does not allow the bad and old things to remove completely

One of the drawbacks of the patchwork is that, it does not allow the person to remove the old and outdated things completely.

It forces the person to keep certain amount od old things and to work on it

Such a work does not allow the work to become completely new and original, so automatically the quality suffers

6) Patchwork is the unholy combination of Old and new

Patchwork is a unholy combination. That is why it can't go on for long time.

After some time there will be a break and the whole thing gets collapsed.

7) Our Physical bodily life also does not accept the patchwork concept

In our body patchwork does not work properly

Any foreign part in our body creates a problem. It does not survive for a long time

Even when there is a bone fracture, the originality is lost. Whatever repaired afterwards, does not function properly. It creates pain after some time.

8) Patchwork spirituality is equal to hypocrisy

Since it is not original it is equal to hypocrisy

In Patchwork spirituality we try to cover up something and try to show that everything is fine. So it is hypocrisy

In patchwork spirituality old and outdated things can't be removed completely. When we can't remove the old and outdated things, we can't begin the new things.

In patchwork spirituality we spend unnecessary strength and energy which makes our life more difficult and boredom.

Patchwork spirituality makes us to work again and again without having any desired results

Patchwork spirituality neither helps the one who practices it nor to the other who witnesses it, since there is a lack of originality.

Am I following the patchwork spirituality?

Does this patchwork spirituality make any sense to my life?

Does this patchwork spirituality reflect in any areas of my life?

 Think about it

God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones.
