Good can be done at any moment

Gospel Thoughts

23rd Week : Monday

GOSPEL Luke - 6: 6 - 11

Good can be done at any moment

1) There is no law in the World which restricts the Good Work

We have several types of laws in the world. But there is no law in the world which purely restricts the good work.

If there is a law which is meant to restrict the good work, such a law becomes meaningless and such laws are abolished with in no time.

2) Scribes and Pharisees give wrong interpretation of the Law

One of the God's commandment says "Keep the Sabbath Holy"

But this law does not say that good work should be avoided on the sabbath day

Keeping sabbath holy - does not mean that one has to restrict from doing good

For scribes and Pharisees doing some good work on the sabbath day would go against the spirit of the sabbath

This is a wrong interpretation and such interpretation can't be justified on any grounds

So basically the scribes and Pharisees had very wrong understanding and interpretation about Sabbath Law

3) Jesus corrects the Wrong understanding of the Law

By preforming a miracle Jesus proves that good work can be done on any day, and even on the Sabbath day

Doing good work does not go against the spirit of the Sabbath, rather doing something good on the sabbath day facilitates a person to keep up spirit of sabbath and it is the right thing to do on sabbath

Jesus not only performs a miracle but also clarifies the matter by posing a beautiful question

*"I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the sabbath rather than to do evil, to save life rather than to destroy it?”*

Through this question Jesus clearly says that doing good work even on the sabbath day is lawful and it does not go against the spirit of the sabbath

4) Doing good work is the best way to keep the sabbath holy

Doing good work is another side of keeping the sabbath holy

One who is able to do good work he is filled with the spirit of sabbath.

In fact the spirit of sabbath should inspire a person to do good work, and it should not stop a person from doing good.

5) There is no particular moment to do good work

Good work can be done on any day. There is no particular day which restricts the good work.

Good work can be done in any place. At Holy place, at home, in the neighborhood, in the work place, and in any place.

Good work can be done in any circumstances.

Good work can be done by any one. In fact all are called to do good works

There is no time, no place, no date, no territory, no caste, there is no colour, there is no particular moment to do a good deed. Good deeds go beyond all these things and good works have the capacities to keep all the laws holy.

6) Finding fault good work is a pure form of hypocrisy

If someone finds fault with good work and with the person who does the good work, is real hypocrite.

Such a person purely lacks the common sense and he may be jealous about the person who does the good work

One who finds fault with doing good, is really frightened about the good work and such a person will not be able to do any good works.

7) Am I frightened about the good works done by others?

If I am frightened or threatened by the works done by some one else, there is something basically wrong in me.

I may be frightened about my cheap popularity. Thats why I may be frightened

I may be frightened because I may lose my authority and power, if I appreciate the good works done by others

Am I comfortable with good works or not?

8) supporting a good work done by some one else is a great Christian virtue

We need to try to grow in this virtue

What can I do to grow in this virtue.

Doing good work is the best law of life, and the best commandment of God

Jesus went on doing good - Acts 10:38

Can I imitate my Master?

God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones
