Has my eye/sight become Blessed?

GOSPEL THOUGHTS

26th Week – Saturday

Gospel – Luke 10:17-24

First Reading – Job 42:1-3, 5-6, 12-17

Has my eye/sight become Blessed?

Blessed are the eyes that see what you see

1) Our eyes or the Sight becomes blessed depends on what we see

Our eyes or the eye sight itself is a great miracle of God. All those who are able to see are really blessed

Just think of a person who is not able to see. Or close your eyes and spend some moments. You will realize the importance of the eye sight and the value of it. Therefore those who are able to see are blessed.

2) Eyes can be used to see good or bad

Jesus says *"If your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out* Mark 9:47.

These words of Jesus tell us that eyes also causes us to sin. In other words eyes at times also used for bad things.

At the same time there are many people who saw great and Holy things with the same eyes. For example Mother Theresa saw Jesus in every suffering and dying man. This is the speciality of blessed eyesight.

3) How did the sight of the disciples became blessed?*

When the disciples returned from their ministry Jesus tells them that their eyes are blessed. Why? Reasons are as follows

First of all they saw that they were able to control the demons or the evil power

Secondly they saw the power of the name of Jesus *"Lord the demons are subject to us because of your name.”*

Thirdly they came rejoicing and they were able to see the fruit of their ministry or the effectiveness of their ministry

Fourthly they were able to see that they have been given power and authority to work miracles. In their ministry place they were able to see this power

Fifthly they were able to see the Son of God, who is amidst them. Personal encounter

Because they were able to see these things, Jesus says *Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.*

4) Do I feel that my eyes and eyesight is blessed?

What do you think about yourself?

First of all we are really blessed because we are able to see. The importance of physical sight.

But real blessedness depends not on physical sight but on Spiritual sight. Accordingly

  • Am I able to see Jesus within me, around me, in all those things which I am doing?
  • Am I able to see Jesus in others. Whatever you did to the  least of my brethren you did it to me. Do I understand this logic. Am I able to see Jesus?
  • Am I able to see the power of the name of Jesus?
  • Am I able to see the that the evil inclinations, bodily passions, sinful nature in me controlled because of the presence of Jesus in me
  • Am I able to see the various miracles in me and around me by Jesus
  • Am I able to see joyfulness in me and in others
  • Am I able to see the goodness, greatness, generosity, humility, service mindedness of others
  • Am I able to see the helping hand of others in my life
  • Am I able to see a thankful heart in me

There are 101 one good things in me, around me, and in others. Am I able to see?

5) What I am trying to see today?

A comfortable life

A luxurious life

Worldly greatness in my life

Downfall of others

Destruction of others

Sufferings of others

Or

Jesus and His values in me and in others

Good and charitable things

Progress and development

Peace, prosperity and justice?

6) Our life becomes blessed depends on What we see

Mother Theresa became blessed because what see saw changed her life

Maximilian Kolbe took courage to become a martyr depends on what he saw

All saints became blessed because they saw this blessedness in them and in others

*Will I become a blessed person*

*Do I want to become a blessed person*

Then we need to scrutinize our eye sight and what we see within ourselves, around and in others

Depends on these things our eyes will become blessed and they the whole life will become blessed

Am I ready?

God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones.
