A call to share God's abundance with others

Gospel Thoughts

*Ordinary Season : C Cycle : 5th Week - 5th Sunday*

*GOSPEL -  Lk 5:1-11*

*FIRST READING Is 6:1-2a, 3-8*

*SECOND READING 1 Cor 15:1-22 or 15:3-8, 11*

*A call to share God's abundance with others*

*1) God's Abundance*

When Peter and his fellow men lowered the net for a catch, at the command of Jesus there was a huge catch of Fish 

So when God gives He does not count and give us. 

When God gives something there is no scarcity of it. This can be clearly known from Today's Gospel. 

*2) What did Peter do with God's abundance*

When Peter realised that it was through God's grace that He received a huge catch of Fish he called His fellow fishermen to share the things whatever they caught 

The Gospel says *They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come to help them*

So they came together and shared among themselves the abundance of Fish.  

This is a important point to note even in our daily life 

*3)  Danger involved for refusal of Sharing*

The Gospel shows when God gave them He gave them in abundance 

The nets were almost about to tear 

The boats were over filled with Fish  which will cause in sinking, 

Their life was in danger. Also their boat, nets and all other material things were in danger 

Everything goes on very well when they shared whatever they had with their companions  

*4) God given abundance in our Life*

The capacity to think and reason out

The physical health, knowledge, wisdom, creativity, courage, love, intelligence, etc 

God also gives us in abundance the land, property, wealth, money

God also gives us in abundance, the talents, skills, qualities, vision and values 

*5) What we do with God given abundance?*

Two things are possible 

Either we can hord it in a so called safe place, with the intention of selfish purpose 

Or we can use this God given abundance in serving our neighbour and others 

Those who share it, they are blessed. Those who refuse to share the God given abundance, later they lose everything. 

*6) Danger involved for not sharing the God given abundance*

The who things may sink into water, and they will lose Everything

The same things happen even in our life, when we refuse to share God given things  

Those who refuse to share they may lose everything because of their greed 

So not sharing or refusing to share God given things may ultimate result in losing everything. This is the  danger involve in it. 

*Not sharing the God given abundance is a curse*
