*GOSPEL - Mk 9:14-29*

*FIRST READING - Jas 3:13-18*

*We need to Die to the Evil Spirit, inoder to rise again as a new creation*

*He became like a corpse, which caused many to say, “He is dead!”*

*1) Son possessed by a mute Spirit*

The Gospel presents to us a incident where a small boy was possessed with evil spirit, who was brought to Jesus by his father for the cure. 

As Jesus was curing the Boy, by casting out the demons, Jesus orders the evil spirit, to go out of the boy. 

*Jesus, rebuked the unclean spirit and said to it, "Mute and deaf spirit, I command you: come out of him and never enter him again!”*

The evil spirit, *Shouting and throwing the boy into convulsions, it came out.*

*2) The Boy became like a corpse*

When the evil spirit left the boy with great difficulties, the boy fell and became like a corpse - a dead thing 

Many people who were around said he is dead. 

In fact this death was necessary and indeed the boy had dead to many things 

*3) The meaning of the death*

We can understand the concept of death in a different and deeper way. 

He was dead to the evil spirit

He was dead to the control of the evil spirit 

He was dead to the slavery of the evil spirit

He was dead to the muteness of the evil spirit 

He was dead to the convulsions of the evil spirit

He was dead to the possessions of the evil spirits 

So this death was very much necessary for the new life 

*4) Jesus gives the new life to the Boy*

When the boy fell like a corpse, *Jesus took him by the hand, raised him, and he stood up.*

This gesture of Jesus speaks a lot. 

Jesus gave him new life 

Jesus liberated him from the evil spirits

Jesus raised him from the death of evil spirits

Jesus destroyed the death which was caused by the evil spirits

Jesus came to liberate us from the clutches of death and to give new life. 

In fact Jesus gave the new life to the Boy 

*5) Die to evil spirit in order to be raised by Jesus to new life*

The boy died to the evil spirits and to its control so Jesus raised him to new life 

So this death was very much necessary in order to be raised by Jesus to new life. 

Unless we die, we can't be raised to new life by Jesus 

*6) Am I ready to die to the Evil spirits?*

All of us are under some control of the evil in our life 

Unless we die to these evil spirits, we can't be raised by Jesus to new life. 

So the question is am I ready to die to my evil spirits? 

*Think about it*
