The Importance of Having the Spirit and Power of Great People

GOSPEL THOUGHTS

*Advent Season : 4th Week : Monday*

*Gospel : Lk 1:5-25*

*First Reading : Jgs 13:2-7, 24-25a*

*The Importance of Having the Spirit and Power of Great People*

*1) The Power and Spirit of Elijah*

Elijah was the great prophet. The power of the Lord was with Him

He performed great miracles.

He Challenged the prophets of Baal and Showed the real power of the Lord of Israel

He condemned evil and injustice

Finally we was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind. This shows He had no end, no death

*2) John had the power and Spirit of Elijah*

The Gospel says that John had the power and spirit of Elijah

It proved in his life. He was courageous, condemned evil, falsehood, and immorality

He had the courage to condemn even the king for his immoral behavior

He converted many people towards God, and helped them to have a real conversion of the heart and mind

*3) The power and authority of Jesus*

As the followers of Jesus we are supposed to have the power and authority Jesus in our life

Unless we have this power and authority, no one can perform any work or service for the glory of the Lord

*4) The power and authority of Jesus*

Jesus' power and Authority rests on following things

Forgiveness
Humility
Sacrifice
Love
Service
Sharing
Prayer
Sincerity
Simplicity

One who is able to practice these Gospel values, certainly the power and Spirit of Jesus moves the person

*5) What power and Spirit I have?*

All of us have some or the authority and influence of Spirit in us

Which is moving me? Worldly things or the Gospel Values?

Am I filled with the Spirit and authority of money, power, position, influence, greed, gossip, envy, hatred, falsehood and pleasure?

Am I filled with the spirit and power of Gospel values??

*Think about it*

*God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones*
