GOSPEL THOUGHTS
*Ordinary Season : 17th Week : Monday*
*Gospel : Mt 13:31-35*
*First Reading : Ex 32:15-24, 30-34*
*The Logic of Mustard Seed in my Life*
*1) The Power of the Mustard Seed*
From the Gospel it is clear that Mustard seed has tremendous power
First of all it is the small seed. But this smallness can be compared with silliness
Even though it is small, it is able to withstand with all the plants around it, and it can challenge other seeds as well
*2) The Smallness of the Mustard seed*
At times people also wrongly judge the capacity of the person or the thing depending on the size.
But this logic can't be applied to the size of the mustard seed
The smallness of the seed was not a hurdle for its growth
The smallness of the seed was not a hurdle to challenge the every situation around
The smallness of the seed was not a hurdle to achieve its purpose
So the mustard seed was really powerful and it was able to show its power
*3) The seed, the branches and the Birds of the Air*
This particular aspect also shows the power of the mustard seed
It grows into a tall tree with many branches, which are able to attract the birds of the air
In other words the mustard seed had the power to give shelter to other beings as well
This also shows the power of the mustard seed
*4) Mustard seed and My life*
My life is a place for mustard seed to grow. The following could be considered as the mustard seeds in our life
The seed of forgiveness
The seed of humility
The seed of joy
The seed of generosity
The seed of sacrifice
The seed of Love
The seed of appreciation
The seed of patience
The seed of service
The seed of tolerance
The seed of truthfulness
The seed of sincerity
These seeds have tremendous effects in our life
*5) Small beginning, Big end*
This is the powerful message we get from the mustard seed
Small beginning, but glorious end. This is what we seen in the life of the church and in the lives of the saints
*6) St Ignatius of Loyola, Jesuit order and the Mustard Seed*
The logic of the mustard seed goes very well with the life and mission of St Ignatius of Loyola
It all started from the mustard seed in the life of St Ignatius Loyola and today it has become a tall tree, giving shelter to many people in the form of education
This is the beauty of the logic of mustard seed
The same logic is also applied to my life.
Am I ready to adopt the logic of mustard seed in my life?
