The power of the Good Works

GOSPEL THOUGHTS

*Lenten Season  : Fifth Week: Friday*

*Gospel : Jn 10:31-42*

*First Reading :Jer 20:10-13*

*The power of the Good Works*

*1) Jesus on Good Works*

In the Gospel of the day Jesus speaks about the good works

During His public ministry, Jesus had done lots of Good works

So he is challenging the crowd to judge his identity on the Good works and not on mere appearance

*2) No one has the authority to punish for doing Good*

In today's Gospel Jesus is asking *“I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of these are you trying to stone me?”*

Then the Jews say *“We are not stoning you for a good work*

This also shows that no one can punish another person for doing good works

*3) Good Works shows our real identity*

Jesus says in John
*believe the works, so that you may realize and understand that the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”*

In this particular phrase the idea of real identity of the person and the mission of the person is seen

Good works not only gives the real identity of the person, but it also shows the way to Jesus and the Heavenly Father

*4) Good works are connected to the Three worlds*

*God*: The good work first connects us to God

Since every good work is coming from God, it aslo shows the real identity of God

*Neighbours*

Good works also connects to the family members and other.

Our good works shows who are our neighbours

*One self*

Good works also connects one to His own conscience

One can evaluate, ones own good works and how they are effective

*5)  How about my Good Works?*

Do they help me in one way or the other, to give the real identity of myself?

What are the good works I have in my life?

Do they proclaim, the message of the of the Gospel through the good works

*Think about it*

*God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones*
