GOSPEL THOUGHTS

*Christmas Season: 30th December : Monday*

*Gospel : Lk 2:36-40*

*The Spirituality of prophetess Anna*

*1) Faithfulness in Adversity*

Anna had lost her husband. She was able to live her marrired life only for seven years 

Despite this personal loss, she remained steadfast in her devotion to God. 

She never complained about her challenges or any other adverse situations of life 

Her example reflects the biblical principle of finding strength and purpose in God amidst adversity (Psalm 34:18).

*2) A Life of Worship*

Anna gave first place to God in her life 

The Gospel says *She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying* (Luke 2:37).

Her life revolved around worship and intercession, showing her deep love for God and commitment to His will.

*3) Life filled with Hope*

Anna eagerly awaited the redemption of Israel. 

Her encounter with the baby Jesus fulfilled her long-held hope, showing the reward of patient and expectant faith

Hope never disappointed her. 

During this Jubilee Year 2025 we are called upon to live our life with Divine Hope which changes our life for better

*4) Prophetic Insight*

As a prophetess, Anna recognized Jesus as the Messiah. 

This was possible because of  her deep rooted spiritual discernment, and her deep relationship with God. 

Prayer and fasting was the foundation for the prophetic insight which helped her to recognize Jesus the Messiah

*5) A Witness to Others*

After encountering Jesus, Anna *gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem* (Luke 2:38).

Sharing of the Good News or the experience of Jesus was the spontaneous response of Prophetess Anna

This shows the primary mission of the followers of Jesus, to spread the Good News. 

In this regard she a model for us in bearing the witness to Christ

*6) Perseverance in Devotion*

Anna was *very old* 84 years of age 

Yet her age did not hinder  her from active service to God. 

Her life is a mirror of  perseverance in faith irrespective of her age

Her life shows that one can persevere in faith at any moment of our life 

Am I ready to follow the spirituality of Prophetess Anna?
