Never was anything like this seen in Israel

GOSPEL THOUGHTS

*Ordinary Season : Fourteenth Week:  Tuesday*

*Gospel : Mt 9:32-38*

*First Reading : Hosea 8:4-7, 11-13*

*Responsorial Psalm : 115: 3-10*

*Never was anything like this seen in Israel*

*1) "Never was anything like this seen in Israel" – The Uniqueness of Jesus*

The people of Israel had experienced many miracles through prophets like Moses, Elijah, and Elisha. Yet they confessed that they had never seen anything like what Jesus was doing.

Jesus was not merely performing miracles; He was revealing the arrival of God's Kingdom. He healed with His own authority, forgave sins, commanded evil spirits, and restored broken lives. His works revealed that God Himself had come near to His people.

Jesus is never ordinary. Whenever He enters a person's life, He does something new. He transforms hearts, restores hope, and makes the impossible possible.

*2) Amazement Is the Beginning of Faith*

The crowd was amazed because they recognized that God was acting before their eyes. Their amazement opened their hearts to believe.

Unfortunately, in the very next verse, the Pharisees refused to believe. They explained away the miracle instead of accepting Jesus.

Two people can witness the same miracle but respond differently. One is filled with faith; the other with doubt. The difference lies not in the miracle but in the openness of the heart.

*3) God Continues to Do "New Things"*

The words "Never has anything like this been seen" remind us that God is always creative. He is not limited by our expectations or past experiences.

Sometimes we think our problems are too complicated, our wounds too deep, or our sins too great. Jesus surprises us by working in ways we never imagined.

Do not put limits on God's power. The Lord is always capable of doing something new in your family, ministry, parish, or personal life.

*4) Our Life Should Make Others Say the Same*

A person transformed by Christ becomes a living witness. When people see forgiveness replacing hatred, joy replacing despair, honesty replacing corruption, or peace replacing anxiety, they too may say, "God has truly done something wonderful."

The greatest miracle is not merely physical healing but a changed heart.

Can others see something in my life that points them to God? Does my faith inspire amazement because of the way Christ has transformed me?

*5) Never Lose the Sense of Wonder*

One danger in the spiritual life is becoming too familiar with Jesus. We hear the Gospel every day, receive the Eucharist, and pray regularly, yet we stop being amazed.

Every Eucharist, every answered prayer, every act of forgiveness, and every conversion is a fresh miracle of God's grace.

A grateful heart never loses its sense of wonder. Ask God each day to help you recognize His extraordinary work in the ordinary moments of life.

*6) Learn to Recognize God's Wonders*

Often we pray for extraordinary miracles while overlooking the ordinary miracles surrounding us. Every sunrise, every answered prayer, every person who supports us, every opportunity to serve, every Eucharist we celebrate, and every day of life is a gift from God.

A grateful heart notices what others take for granted. God does not perform wonders merely to amaze people but to transform them. When His grace changes our lives, we ourselves become a sign of His love.
