*First Reading : Acts 1:12-14*
*Responsorial Psalm : Lk 1:46-55*
*Our Lady of the Rosary – Our People of the Rosary*
*1) The Rosary begins with Mary's “Yes”*
The first mystery of the Rosary is particularly important for understanding “Our Lady of the Rosary – Our People of the Rosary.”
Mary said: “Let it be with me according to your word.”
The Rosary is not merely the repetition of prayers. Every “Hail Mary” can remind us of Mary's Yes.
When we pray the Rosary, we are gradually learning to say: “Lord, let your will be done in my life.”
Mary said Yes when she did not understand everything.
Mary said Yes when the future was uncertain.
Mary said Yes when God's plan was demanding.
Mary said Yes not only with her lips but with her whole life.
Therefore, a person of the Rosary is a person who learns to say Yes to God.
*2) Who are the “People of the Rosary”?*
The People of the Rosary are not simply those who know how to recite many Rosaries. They are people whose lives are gradually transformed by the mysteries they pray.
We can say: A person of the Rosary is a person who carries Jesus.
Mary carried Jesus in her womb. After the Annunciation, she immediately went to Elizabeth.
Similarly, after praying the Rosary, we should carry Jesus into: our homes, our workplaces, our schools, our neighbourhoods, our relationships, our difficulties, our society.
The Rosary should not remain in our hands; it should enter our hearts and our lives.
*3) People of the Rosary are people of the “Yes”*
The Annunciation teaches us that Christianity begins with surrender.
Many times we say: “My will be done.” Mary teaches us: “God's will be done.”
A person of the Rosary asks:
What does God want from me?
Where is God leading me?
Whom is God asking me to forgive?
Whom is God asking me to help?
What sacrifice is God asking me to make?
Thus, the Rosary becomes a daily training in surrendering our will to God's will.
*4) People of the Rosary are people who remember*
The word Rosary is connected with contemplating the mysteries of Christ. The Rosary helps us remember what God has done.
Human beings easily forget.
We forget God's blessings when difficulties come.
We forget God's presence when we become afraid.
We forget God's forgiveness when we make mistakes.
We forget God's goodness when life becomes painful.
The Rosary repeatedly brings us back to the great events of salvation.
A Rosary person is a person who does not forget God.
*5) People of the Rosary are people of contemplation*
The Rosary is not simply a prayer of the lips; it is a prayer of the heart and mind.
While saying the Hail Mary, we contemplate:
What is happening to Jesus?
What is happening to Mary?
What is God teaching me through this mystery?
For example, when contemplating the Agony in the Garden, we can ask: “How do I face my own Gethsemane?”
When contemplating the Crucifixion: “Am I able to forgive those who hurt me?”
When contemplating the Resurrection: “Where do I need hope in my life?”
When contemplating the Annunciation: “Where is God asking me to say Yes?”
Therefore, the Rosary converts ordinary events of life into opportunities for meditation.
*6) Why do we need to become People of the Rosary?*
Because we live in a distracted world.
Today our minds are constantly occupied: mobile phones, social media, television, news, entertainment, business, worries about the future.
The Rosary creates a sacred pause.
For perhaps twenty minutes, we put aside the noise of the world and enter into the mysteries of Christ.
The world fills our minds with many voices; the Rosary helps us listen again to the voice of God.
*7) The Rosary teaches us how to handle life's mysteries*
Our life also contains mysteries.
Sometimes we experience: joy, suffering, sickness, success, failure, separation, death, unexpected blessings.
Mary herself experienced all these things.
She experienced the joy of the Annunciation and Bethlehem, but also the pain of Calvary.
Therefore, when we pray the Rosary, we learn from Mary:
How to receive joy with gratitude and suffering with faith.
The Rosary does not promise a life without problems.
Rather, it teaches us how to walk through our problems with Jesus.
*8) People of the Rosary are people of family*
The Rosary has traditionally been a powerful family prayer.
When a family prays together, something beautiful happens: different generations come together before God.
Parents and children may have different opinions, different personalities and different interests. But when they kneel together and pray: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us…” they discover that they are one family before God.
Therefore: A family that prays the Rosary together learns to remain together in faith.
The Rosary can become an instrument of reconciliation within families.
*9) People of the Rosary are people who bring Jesus to others*
Look carefully at Luke 1:39–45, which follows the Annunciation.
Mary receives Jesus and immediately goes to Elizabeth.
This gives us an important lesson: True prayer sends us towards people.
If I pray the Rosary but remain selfish, angry, unforgiving and indifferent to others, I have not yet allowed the Rosary to transform me.
Mary teaches us: Receive Jesus → Carry Jesus → Share Jesus.
This can become the spirituality of the People of the Rosary.
*10) The Rosary is not an escape from life*
Sometimes people may think: “I pray the Rosary so that I don't have to think about my problems.”
But the Rosary does something deeper. It helps us face life with Christ.
When we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries, we do not run away from suffering. We look at Christ's suffering and discover courage.
When we pray the Glorious Mysteries, we do not deny death. We proclaim that life has the final word.
When we pray the Joyful Mysteries, we learn that God can enter ordinary human life.
Therefore: The Rosary does not take us away from reality; it teaches us how to see reality through the eyes of faith.
*11) “Our Lady of the Rosary” should produce “Our People of the Rosary”*
Our Lady of the Rosary is not merely a title we give Mary.
It is an invitation for us to become:
People who say Yes to God.
People who carry Jesus.
People who remember God's blessings.
People who contemplate Christ.
People who forgive.
People who serve.
People who remain faithful in suffering.
People who bring hope to others.
People who pray with their families.
People who trust God like Mary.
Thus: Our Lady of the Rosary should produce a People of the Rosary.
*12) One Hail Mary – One step towards becoming Mary's people*
Every Hail Mary contains the beautiful words: “Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.”
It reminds us of two realities: Now – Mary accompanies us in our present struggles.
At the hour of our death – Mary accompanies us towards eternity.
Therefore, the Rosary is a prayer for the whole journey of life.
From childhood to old age, from joy to sorrow, from health to sickness, from life to death, we place ourselves under Mary's maternal care and, through her, draw closer to Jesus.
*13) How can we become People of the Rosary?*
We can begin with five simple commitments:
*Pray the Rosary regularly* : Not only when there is a problem.
*Meditate on one mystery* : Do not merely count the Hail Marys; enter into the mystery.
*Practice what we contemplate* : If we contemplate forgiveness, forgive someone. If we contemplate service, serve someone.
*Pray as a family* : Even one decade together can become a beautiful beginning.
*Bring the Rosary into daily life* : Let its mysteries influence our decisions, relationships and attitudes.
Mary became the Lady of the Rosary because her entire life was a meditation on Jesus.
“Our Lady of the Rosary teaches us that the Rosary is not only a prayer to be recited; it is a life to be lived—living with Jesus, through Mary, in faith, hope and love.”
*Think about it*
*God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones*
