Gospel –Matthew 11: 20-24
Am I able to see the mighty deeds in my own town/Life?
"Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty
deeds had been done, since they had not repented" Matthew 11:20
1) Jesus' Mighty deeds in the Towns
a) Jesus' Mighty deeds always has a reference to the people,
even though the names of the places are mentioned
b) Town represents the people who are living in the town. Three
towns are mentioned in today's Gospel
- Chorazin!
- Bethsaida!
- Capernaum:
c) So ultimately Jesus did mighty deeds in the life of those
people who were living in those towns
2) Various Mighty deeds of Jesus
a) Jesus cured many people from their sicknesses
b) Jesus performed various miracles to change the life situation
of the people
c)Jesus delivered many from the clutches of devil and
demons
d) Jesus gave sight to the blind, lame were able to walk, dumb
were able to speak, dead were brought back to life, some were able to convert
thier life from sin to Holiness
3) Jesus' mighty deeds in my town/life
a) Today as I see my own life I am able to see the following
mighty deeds in my Life
b) As I got up today, I
am able to see. Is it not a mighty work of the Lord. Think what would be my
situation if I am not able to see
c) I able to walk
properly. What a mighty work of the Lord. Think of those who were not able
to walk today onwards
d) I am able to breathe
properly. What a miracle. Think of those people who have breathing problem
e) My Hands are
perfectly working and I am able to work. What a miracle. If one of my fingers
stops working, will I be able to work properly
f) My mind in intact.
This is the greatest mighty work of the Lord. If my mind is not okie what will
I do. Think of those who have psychological problems
g) My heart is
perfectly pumping the blood. Another mighty work of the Lord. The moment it
stops, I am out of my life
h) My ears are working. I am able to hear. Is
it not a Lords mighty work in my life
i) All my vital organs,
liver, kidney, lungs, and other things are properly working. Since they are
working properly I am living. Is it not a mighty deed of the Lord?
j) I am able to think,
plan out, organize the things and able to understand others. Is it not a mighty
deed of the Lord in my life?
k) I am able to eat well
and my stomach is able to digest properly. What a miracle. What a mighty work
of the Lord in my life
l) As soon as Iie down
sleep comes at once. I don't know how it is. What a mighty deed of the
Lord. Think of those who are not able to get sleep whole night
m) I am able to live happily. Is it not a
mighty deed of the Lord
n) I am able to enjoy
peacefulness in my life. I have lots of talents, skills, organising
capacity, ability to learn new things - All these are mighty deeds of the Lord
in my life
4) Life and various aspects in life are the mighty deeds of the
Lord.
a) If I am able to see life in a different angle everything in
life is nothing but the mighty deeds of the Lord.
b) There are innumerable mighty deeds of the Lord in my life.
Uncountable mighty deeds of the Lord are reflected in my life
5) Does the Lord regret for doing So many mighty deeds in my
Life?
a) Jesus says, "For if the mighty deeds done in your
midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented”
b) What Would Jesus say after seeing my attitude towards His
Mighty works in my Life?
· c) Will he say “You faithful and wise servant, I am happy about
your attitude towards my mighty works in my life
· d) Or will he say, If I had done all these mighty works in some else’s
life, long back he would have changed
his life to glorify me and to spread my
Kingdom
· e) Have I ever thought that all the things which I am enjoying my
life are the wonderful deeds of the Lord
· f) All our senses are nothing but the five greatest wonders of our
Body. No one is able to buy these greatest wonders of our body with any power
or wealth. They are sheer free gift of
our Lord to us
· g) Think about the mighty deeds of the Lord in your life, you will
certainly change your life and you will be grateful to God at all times
