Gospel –Matthew 13: 1-23

 

The Attitude and mentality of the Sower is very important in our lives

1) The Sower had only Good Seed

a) The sower had only good seeds and he sowed only the good seeds. He didn't have bad seed. But all the good seed which fell from his hand didn't produce fruit. Only some portion was able to produce the fruit.

b) Even the seeds which fell in the good soil also produced the fruits in different levels. Not that all the good seeds which fell on the good soil produced the same level of fruit.

c) The Gospel is very clear that the seeds fell on the good soil produced fruits in different levels. Some produced 30, some 60, and some 100 fold.

2) The Reaction of the Sower towards the seeds

a) All the seeds did not fall in the good soil. The seeds fell in different places

b) The seeds which fell on the path way, rocky ground and thorny bush failed to produce fruit. Only the seed fell on the good soil produced good fruit. But we need to see the reaction of the sower in this context

- He was not upset about those seeds which failed to produce the fruit

- He did not get angry about those seeds which fell other than the good soil

- He did not lose his hope in doing his work

- He didn't grumble at any one

- Instead of seeing the negative aspects and blaming the situation he saw the seed which had fallen on the good soil.

-He was fully involved with the seeds which fell on the good soil

-He did not bother much about the seeds which fell outside the good soil

- that is how he was able to reap good fruit of 30, 60, and 100.

  3) Positive approach of the Sower

a) We must admire the positive attitude and approach of the sower. Since he was very positive about the seeds which fell on the good soil he was able to concentrate on the good seeds

b) Like the Sower only when we have a positive attitude about the work we do we are able to succeed in life. Or else it is very difficult to achieve anything

c) The moment we have a negative attitude about our work, we lose interest and we are unable to plan and work in a systematic way. Which affects the quality of our work.

4) The sower and his efforts should reflect in our lives  

a) Our life and efforts are similar to that of the sower. Seed can be compared to our efforts, hard work and sacrifices of our lives

b) Some of our efforts and hard work is just those seeds which fell on the path way. Unable to produce any fruit

- some of our efforts will be like that of seeds which fell on the rocky ground. They could not survive

- some of our efforts will be like that of seeds which fell on the thorny bushes.

- some of our efforts are like the seeds which fell on the good soil, which will bring good results

c) So the reality of the Sower is very much reflects in our lives. We can not escape our life from the indecent of sowing the seeds

d) In fact our life is very much similar to the Parable of the Sower. We are the sowers of seeds in our own life

-First of all we need to sow only good seeds in our life

-Secondly all the seeds which we sow may not fall only in the good soil of our life. Some of it may go out or it may slip from the good soil of our life

-Thirdly all the Good seed which falls on the good soil of our life will not produce the same fruit. Some will produce 30, others will 60 and still other seeds will produce 100 fold fruit

 

5) How do we look at whole episode

a) Do I grumble for those efforts which fail to produce any results because the efforts which were found on the pathway or rocky ground or among the thorny bushes were totally failed to produce any fruit?

b)Do I see my efforts which able to produce some good result and I am happy about it and I am able to build on that?

c) Do I cultivate negative attitude or positive attitude in life about various situation those affect my life

d) Always keep some margin in your efforts. No efforts will produce 100℅ result in any situation

e) If at all you receive 100℅ result in any situation then your hard work or efforts will be always more than 100℅. It may 150℅ or more.

f) So keep some margin in your efforts. Concentrate on those efforts which produce results.If some efforts fail to produce result just ignore and see the positive side to achieve something
