Life was the light of the human race

Gospel Thoughts*

*Christmas Season : 31st December*

*GOSPEL  John 1:1-18*

*First Reading - 1 Jn 2:18-21*

*Life was the light of the human race*

*1) Life is one of the finest  gift of God*

Every life comes from God. It is through the Word, Jesus Christ that evey life get its real identity

Life is a beautiful gift of God to all of us and this is one of the beautiful and valuable gifts of God to human kind.

There is no greater gift than life, which God  have given to the Human being.

*2) Life is compared to the Light*

Life is equal to light. 

We can imagine the importance of light in our lives. Life is impossible without light. 

First of all light is very necessary to survive any life. Nothing grows or survives in the darkness 

Jesus says when we lose light in life (eye sight) life is nothing but darkness. 

Without eyesight (Light) life is impossible

*3) Light is always seen as Divine in us*

Every light (life) comes from God. 

In fact the light or life is the divine presence in us. So light is divine and darkness is not divine 

So the principle of Life in us reminds us that we are given the valuable presence of God, to carry with us all the time.  

*4) The nature of the light to shine*

*The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.*

This is the power of the light. Light can not remain idle. It has to shine.

Since life is the light in us, our life should shine always 

The question is *Does my life Shine at all?*

If the answer is yes, I am blessed, if not, need to introspect about the same. 

*5) Light which is kept under the Bushel*

*No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house* Matthew 5:15

Am I trying to put the light of my life on the stand or under the bushel?

Light under bushel does not shine, it goes off. Light in the stand will shine and will show the way to others 

All the bad things in life make our light of life, under the bushel, which ultimately makes the light to go off. 

We need to be careful, so that we can always try to keep the light of our life on the stand, which will shine in a bright way 

*6) Where is my light/Life?*

Life is the light - let it shine

Life is the light - facilitate to shine it 

Life is light - the more it shines, better it becomes 

Life is light - freely you have received it, freely you must give to others 

Life is light, you can't hide it under the bushel

Life is light - keep it burning

Life is light - be careful about the wind which may put off the burning light 

Life is light - share this light with others
