The Love of St Peter and St Paul

GOSPEL THOUGHTS

*Ordinary Season : 12th Week : Thursday*

*Gospel : Jn 21:15-19*

*First Reading : Acts 3:1-10*

*SECOND READING - Gal 1:11-20*

*Solemnity of St  Peter and St Paul*

*The Love of St Peter and St Paul*

*1) Do You Love Me?*

This is the main Question in today's Gospel. Jesus asks this question to Peter three times and three times Peter gives a very positive answer to this question

So as we celebrate the Feast of St Peter and St Paul, it is very important to know How Peter and Paul Loved the Lord in their Life

*2) Peter Loved Jesus by Leading the Entire Flock*

St Peter took the lead in leading the entire flock of Jesus

After the Resurrection, Peter became the Leader of the Disciples and He led the Church in the Spirit of Jesus

*3) Peter Loved Jesus by proclaiming the Gospel*

The only one thing Peter did in life was, He proclaimed the Risen Christ wherever he went

Thus He showed that he really loved His Master

*4) Peter Loved Jesus by Martyrdom*

We see that Peter was so filled with Spirit, finally he was ready to sacrifice His life

He requested His persecutors to crucify Him Upsidedown, accepting that he is not worthy enough to die like a Jesus on the Cross

Such was his humility and Love for Jesus

*5) Paul loved Jesus, By being the Apostle of the Gentiles*

It is Paul, who took Risen Christ, to the Gentile people

He had two powerful, Missionary journies to different places to proclaim Jesus to the unknown people

*6) Paul Loved Jesus by His writings*

Paul wrote 13 letters in different context to proclaim the Risen Lord

We have these 13 letters in our Holy Scriptures to read and to meditate and to have deep experience of the Risen Lord

This is the Reflection of St Paul's Love for Jesus

*7) Paul Loved Jesus by Offering His life*

Paul also died as a martyr, by sacrificing His Life for Jesus

This is the Height of Paul's Love for Jesus

Like St Peter and St Paul we are called upon to Love Jesus  through our Life
