GOSPEL THOUGHTS
*Advent Season: Second Week : Friday*
*Gospel : Mt 11:16-19*
*First Reading : Is 48:17-19*
*Responsorial Psalm : Ps 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6*
*The dangerous attitude of finding fault with everything*
*1) The attitude of Finding Fault*
One of the most dangerous attitude of human beings is finding fault with others
When a person finds fault with everything, this becomes most dangerous attitude of the person
Such a person sees wrong in everything. There is nothing right in anything which they come across in their life
*2) Gospel on Finding fault with everything*
The Gospel of the day speaks about the attitude of finding fault with everything
There are series of diffent types of events which are recorded in the Gospel
In every event, the so called *this generation* finds fault with everything
*3) The Happy Event*
The Gospel recounts a happy event, where the so called generation should have danced or rejoiced about the situation
But they exhibited a sad face or cold reaction to the situation
*We played the flute for you, but you did not dance,*
*4) Sad Event*
The Gospel also recounts a sad event where these people should have exhibited sad face because of the situation
Instead they exhibited a rejoicing or a indifferent attitude to the situation
*We sang a dirge but you did not mourn.’*
*5) The Person of John the Baptist*
John came to prepare the way for the Messiah
He was rigours in life and followed a very strict discipline in life
He practiced penance and extreme asceticism.
He was morally upright man. He was a integrated person.
He had the courage to condemn evil and immorality
In such a saintly person the so called generation saw the demon *‘He is possessed by a demon*
This didn't have anything but the demon to see in his life
*6) The Person of Jesus Christ*
He was the Messiah. He was the Son of God.
Worked many miracles and healed many people
He was among the people. Mixing with them and sharing their joys and sorrows
He was one with people. He attended their celebrations and evey event of their life
He mixed with sinners and ate with them
So they saw a strange person in Jesus. *A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners*
*7) Root Cause*
The root cause of this attitude is the wrong perception that *I am right in everything*
I am always right. I can't make mistakes
Only others commit mistakes
This is the another shadow of the Pride
*8) Always seeing the opposite*
This is dangerous disorder which can harm many
This attitude can spoil the good name of others
This attitude can destroy a person
The scribes and Pharisees tried to do this about John and Jesus
What about me?
Do I have this attitude of finding fault with everything?
At the same time the attitude *I am right in everything*
*Think about it*
*God bless you and your family. Praying for you and your dear ones*
