*Highlights of the Manifesto of Jesus*

*1) Main Highlights of the Manifesto of Jesus (Luke 4:18–19)*

*A) Anointed by the Spirit*

Jesus’ mission is Spirit-driven, not self-appointed.
His authority comes from God, not institutions or power structures.

*B) Good News to the Poor*

“Poor” includes the economically poor and those marginalized, excluded, or powerless.
The gospel is not neutral; it has a clear preferential concern for the vulnerable.

*C) Freedom for Captives*

Captivity can be physical, social, political, spiritual, or psychological.
Jesus presents salvation as liberation, not merely private spirituality.

*D) Sight to the Blind*

This includes physical healing and spiritual illumination.
Jesus restores dignity and the ability to see reality and God clearly.

*E) Freedom for the Oppressed*

This points to systems that crush people, not just individual sins.
Jesus challenges injustice and dehumanization.

*F) The Year of the Lord’s Favor*

Refers to the Jubilee (Leviticus 25): debt forgiveness, restoration, new beginnings.
God’s grace disrupts cycles of exploitation and despair.

*2) Why This Manifesto Is Important*

*A) It Defines Jesus’ Mission* : This is Jesus’ own summary of why he came. Everything else in the Gospel flows from this vision.

*B) It Unites Faith and Life* : Jesus refuses to separate spirituality from social reality. Prayer, justice, healing, and compassion belong together.

*C) It Reverses Expectations* :Instead of siding with power, Jesus centers the poor, the broken, and the excluded—this is why the message later provokes rejection.

*D) It Becomes the Church’s Mission* : What Jesus announces here becomes the program of Christian discipleship (see Acts).

*3) Inspiring Reflections on This Manifesto*

*A) God Takes Sides — with the Broken* : This text reassures us that God is not indifferent. God enters history precisely where suffering is deepest.

*B) Salvation Is Holistic* : Jesus heals bodies, restores relationships, frees consciences, and challenges injustice. Faith is not escapism; it is transformation.

*C) Hope Is Concrete* : The “good news” is not vague comfort. It touches hunger, blindness, bondage, shame, and exclusion.

*D) Grace Is a New Beginning* : The “year of the Lord’s favor” means that no failure, debt, or wound has the last word.
